LA Phil
Celebrating 100 Years of LA Phil with a Digital Transformation

To celebrate the LA Philharmonic’s centennial and reimagine their digital presence, we redesigned their website and mobile app to capture the organization’s innovative spirit while driving engagement, ticket sales, and donations. Our work focused on modernizing the user experience, designing for diverse content needs, and integrating both the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Hollywood Bowl under a unified platform.
By balancing aesthetics with functionality, we improved user navigation, created engaging content modules, and enhanced ticket purchasing flows. The result was a visually captivating and scalable design system that seamlessly adapted to the needs of both desktop and mobile users, delivering measurable improvements across key metrics.

Exploring Bold Design Directions
We started by brainstorming visual concepts that reflected LA Phil’s modern, forward-thinking identity. These design directions explored sophisticated layouts, refined typography, and high-impact visuals to resonate with both new and existing audiences.

The Final Fullscreen Homepage Experience
The final design embraced a large, scrollable layout showcasing upcoming performances, multimedia highlights, and ticketing options. This immersive homepage captured LA Phil’s vibrancy while guiding users to key content effortlessly.

Templating for Hollywood Bowl Integration
We created a modular design system that extended seamlessly to the Hollywood Bowl, allowing both sites to maintain distinct identities while sharing templates and core functionality.

Designing Series & Event Detail Pages
With events varying from classical performances to jazz nights, we designed flexible templates that adapted to different types of content. These pages highlighted programs, featured artists, and user-centric details tailored to the event.

Developing Tertiary Pages for Expanded Content
We built and refined tertiary templates to handle a range of organizational content, including educational programs, donor initiatives, and visitor information. This ensured a comprehensive and consistent user experience throughout the site.

Rethinking the Ticket Purchase Journey
We overhauled the ticketing experience by streamlining steps, improving filtering options, and integrating personalization features. This redesign provided users with clear paths to explore seating options and purchase tickets efficiently.

Converting the Experience into a Mobile App
To extend accessibility, we translated the desktop experience into a mobile app that allowed users to discover events, purchase tickets, and access personalized event details directly from their devices.

Outcome
The redesigned LA Phil website and mobile app revitalized their digital presence and achieved impressive business results: a 600% increase in donations, a 10% boost in ticket conversion rates, and an 8% growth in revenue. By aligning design with the organization’s vision, we delivered a platform that continues to serve as a cultural hub for music enthusiasts.
