Redefining Facebook’s Journalism Platform Through Design

The Facebook Journalism Project landing page redesign aimed to create a modern and functional interface aligned with Facebook’s brand guidelines. The project showcased two distinct design directions, each focusing on unique content modules to educate and engage users while fostering meaningful connections with journalists.
Both directions prioritized visual storytelling and modular layouts, providing flexibility for various types of content. The designs were optimized for mobile and desktop experiences, ensuring accessibility and usability for all users.

Exploring Unique Directions
To address Facebook’s need for a dynamic landing page, we developed two design directions, each with distinct approaches to content organization. One direction emphasized immersive storytelling with bold imagery and large, full-width modules, while the other highlighted quick accessibility with smaller, categorized sections for easy navigation. Both solutions reflected Facebook’s mission and strengthened the platform’s ability to connect with users.

Designed for Every Screen
Recognizing the importance of mobile usage, we ensured both design directions were responsive and optimized for various screen sizes. The flexible layouts adapted seamlessly to mobile devices, ensuring content modules were easy to navigate and visually appealing, no matter how users accessed the site.

Outcome
Although Facebook chose a templated approach for the final implementation, the proposed designs were praised for their creativity and alignment with brand values. These explorations demonstrated how modular and responsive design can elevate user engagement and set the stage for more impactful storytelling.
